June 9 saw a large peace demonstration in London, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Six-Day War in Israel.

The Six-Dar War resulted in Israel taking control of the Gaza Strip and West Bank, including East Jerusalem. An estimated 20 000 people took to the streets of London, including some distinguished speakers such as RESPECT party politician George Galloway and Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Corrigan Maguire. This event was in support of the Palestinian people with the hope that the occupation will end.
