Legendary folksinger and songwriter Joan Baez made headlines last week, when she was barred from performing at Walter Reed Hospital.

Baez was invited to perform a few songs with John Mellencamp. Although officials were vague as to the reasons why Baez was refused entry, many have speculated that it has to do with her strong anti-war sentiments. Perhaps they were concerned with something she potentially may have said from the stage. Another theory is that some of the soldiers who are currently patients at Walter Reed took offense to Baez, who has been a peace activist her entire career. The odd thing here is that John Mellencamp is also anti-war, yet all of the controversy was focussed on Baez. Who knew a 60's folk icon could prove to be such a "threat"?
