May 1 is May Day, a day to celebrate labour activism. Usually there is a march or rally, and peace groups often take part.

May 1 is International Workers' Day, otherwise known as May Day. It is a celebration of the workers' movement internationally, a day to recognize the achievements of peoples' struggles for economic and social justice, to speak out against injustice and to organize to step up our efforts to create a new world. On May Day, working people all over the world affirm their unity.

A popular saying on May Day is: "One Humanity, One Struggle - Another World is Possible!" This is the time to reject and oppose all wars of aggression and conquest. This is a time to salute people everywhere who are fighting for their rights, for self-determination, for freedom, and for justice.

In many cities around the world, there is a May Day march, so I encourage you to find out if one is being held in your location -- and for you to take part. Affirm your solidarity with workers (and maybe you are a worker yourself). And let May Day be a time to stand for peace.
