Calling for Canada Out of Afghanistan

The most recent cross-canada peace event took place on October 28, and was a call to the Canadian government to get Canadian military troops out of Afghanistan.

The objections to Canada's involvement in Afghanistan includes a disdain for an imperialist attitude supporting a United States puppet government regime. Hamid Karzai, the new president, used to be involved with Unocal, a United States oil company.

Poppy production is down, but that is simply because military forces are destroying the fields of private farmers, and their livelihoods at the same time. Certainly those in the peace movement are not fans of the Taliban, but the problem is that the Taliban represents the extreme right wing of Islam -- and you can't kill an idea, or ideology. There will always be those who hold those beliefs. And how can the military even tell who is Taliban and who isn't? How many more innocent people will have to lose their lives? The puppet Northern Alliance government is mostly made up of Taliban dropouts, war lords, and drug lords anyways. Canadian soldiers are dying for a cause not worth supporting.
