Peace Makers and the Military

Many peace makers respect the armed forces.

One of the most controversial topics in peace making is attitudes towards the military. In reality, many peace makers respect the armed forces.

A peace making friend of mine commented recently that she would not want to live in a country without a military. A military exists to protect a country. The problem is when that military is ordered by its government to invade and occupy another country. To that end, many of us say that we respect our troops -- and we want to bring them home. I think more peaceniks are far more leery of the government that gives the orders, rather than the troops themselves.
