Some brave college students are going to be walking from Calgary to Edmonton at the end of this month to raise awareness of the genocide going on in Darfur.

Twenty students from Grant MacEwan Community College will begin their journey on April 22. They will begin in Calgary, and embark on a nine-day walk back to Edmonton. The route will be along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway, one of the busiest highways in Canada. The students intend two goals: to raise awareness of the genocide in Darfur, while urging strong peacekeeping troops on the ground in Darfur, even without the consent of the Sudanese government. The students will arrive in Edmonton on April 29, when there will be a rally in Churchill Square. For more information, visit the Walk for Darfur website.
